I think there was talk of having the winner of the main tournament slot in as the 8th song in a winners table? I think it'd be better to include all the quarterfinalists vs previous winners in a final 16.

So you would remove all previous winners from the main bracket?

I preferred choosing from 3 songs rather than just 2.

to speed things up we can do that further unto the tournament. round of 32, maybe?

Long Road 2017

If you'd like to mix it up a little do a Live version of the tournament.

Apportion out the catalogue (maybe one album each) to 10-12 RMers with the most bootleg knowledge. They then get to nominate a representative, "best" live version of each song from their designated album.

Hold the tournament as usual, but this time it's those specific versions going head to head.

Might be interesting as, depending on the choices, you could get a few dark horses going longer than usual. I'd also imagine that some of the classic radio hit songs might have refreshed debate, with people choosing renditions that are likely to be a bit more controversial.

Would actually get people to listen to the songs before voting too.

Pain in the ass bit would be having to have a link (youtube or whatever) to each version that's included in the tournament.

Also synch the timing of the tournament so that the winner is decided the day before the Rock and Roll HOF induction (April 7). Then we can all bitch and moan the next day when Pearl Jam fails to play any of the RM final 16 in their induction songs.
