I haven't posted here in months and I feel the strong need to post just to say, I'm listening to Eddie's You've Got to Hide Your Love Away cover again.

Its a great song, Eddie sounds good on it...I love hearing him sing it.

BUT I CANNOT GET OVER HIM NOT DOING THE OCTAVE JUMP IN THE CHORUS. Especially because I feel like Eddie would sound so good singing that high note, but he doesn't go for it and it ruins the whole cover for me. I feel blue balled. I just want him to unleash that powerful voice but he doesn't go up all the way. My ears just hate not hearing him sing the right note there.

I wouldn't even mind if he stayed low on the first chorus, and did the octave jump on the second chorus, or even the second time he sings the line within a chorus. BUT HE DOESN'T.

Yes it is. John Lennon sings an octave above on "HEY!" before sliding down the octave.

Eddie does not go up that far.

John Lennon is also dead now, though. Maybe Eddie feels like he needs to play it a little safe.

Considering when Vedder recorded this cover, it was right in the midst of his Riot Act vocal delivery phase, so his choices make sense. And I like how it works here.

I might listen to this song once every few years, so I don't really care how Ed sings it, but I've never thought it sounded "wrong" as is.

I hate that he sings "find my face to the wall". What?

I am also pretty sure he sings "feeling two foot snall".

I love everything about Ed's cover of this song. Every blessed thing. I would change nothing about it. The vocals are perfect. The cover is perfect. Everything is awesome.
