Movies that were important only to people your age

What are some movies/shows that resonated with people your age, that older people didn't get and that younger people won't understand the appeal of?
For me, it's Mean Girls.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Obviously, the resonance doesn't last forever. I don't get together with my friends and watch Mean Girls or The Matrix. But quotes are still thrown around. It's a reference point most people my age understand (but older people don't).

I genuinely thought it would be the "Star Wars of our generation" when it came out. So fresh and fun and visionary and big and goofy and strange and exciting. Then they never made more of them. And then they made more Star Wars movies.

also, re: Fifth Element. I seem to enjoy the strange and goofy movies that Willis is in with other known actors. This and Hudson Hawk immediately come to mind. It is almost like they get together and have fun filming and don't give AF what the end product will be.
