Often we talk about wanting Pearl Jam to make a record filled with less immediate songs. Less polished. More experimental.

List some songs from their past that would fit into what you are hoping for.

I can't really explain it but the song title "Cold Confession" fills me with hatred

I almost typed Cold Contagious. Which I believe is a Bush song. That is better than anything on the last two PJ albums, btw.

I'd like to see them sit down and take a serious look, with a producer outside their comfort zone, at the songs they've written over the past 10-15 years. There's plenty of good stuff there just that we've heard, from the Avocado leftovers to "Of the Earth" (at least I love this song). Go in, record 12-15 songs and release a record with the best 8-11 songs. Tour the hell out of it, and then maybe just call it a day.

Oh, and more songs like "In My Tree" and "Nothing As It Seems".

It doesn't have to be quiet. It can be really loud and heavy. I just don't think the compact, punky approach of the last 3 records really works for them.

And utilize Ed's voice in a way that doesn't involve screeching. Regardless of the song's faults, I think Ed sounds great on "Mind Your Manners".

Just for them to get together and work. They're all still capable musicians, and Eddie's limitations are nothing that can't be navigated. But this sporadic "tour two weeks here, book a recording session there, never more than a few weeks a year" approach will likely never produce anything more than the workmanlike, nobody-steps-on-anyone's-toes, competent-but-uninspired stopgaps they've been putting out, regardless of what style of music they're writing or even who's producing.

Just write songs that are musically interesting and in Ed's wheelhouse vocally, produced in a way that doesn't feel sterile. And I agree with Platy that Ed sounds great on MYM. I am a bigger fan than almost everyone of the last two albums, but hopefully everyone can identify that, even if you weren't happy with the outcome, that the component parts are still there.

As long as it's NOT like NaiS or Sirens or Parachutes I won't complain much.

But quite common in the fact I hate all three.
