Sad. Both of these are good songs, but there were better.

Agreed. Both SOLAT and Wash deserve to be here.

It is but sad is better. My god. A band at its peak.

Long Road is the band keeping up with Eddie. Sad is the fucking band being amazing.

Love this performance, and the best the song has ever been, imo.

"Long Road" has the ability to be profoundly moving. On the right day, in the right mood, it packs a wallop like none other; simple chords, simple words, emotion that could flatten mountains. Other days it sounds like a droning slog. "Sad" is more consistently satisfying but I don't know that I've ever had that moment of feeling like, "Oh man, this song is really something special." No doubt it's about as good as punky Eddie-on-guitar songs get, that Sleater-Kinney-inspired riff is a concept Eddie could stand to revisit, and on good live versions, the band absolutely smokes -- a great case for Matt as the dynamic, song-serving drummer that we consistently swear he isn't. But "Long Road" has hit higher highs for me, and that it earns it my vote here.

Hmm. Shit. Maybe you have just swayed my vote. Maybe my love for the Binaural era is clouding my judgement here.
