Ghost. Not even close.

Save You is probably my second favorite song on Riot Act, though Ghost may be third. I love the sentiment on Thumbing My Way but the song has never really resonated. Some of the live versions have a humanity the studio take is missing.

I love Mike's solo on Ghost.

Up to now I would have said Save You but now it's Ghost. The dirty fuzz is lovely.

It's really close. I won't grieve for Save You if it loses to Ghost.

Ghost is awesome.

Save You, but I don't love any of these.

I love Ghost but Save You gets my vote here, it has always been a favorite.

They really do, and that's not something I'm prompted to say all that often with these bozos.

I actually quite dislike Save You. Thumbing My Way is sweet enough, but this one goes to Ghost. It does sound pretty damn good.

I love Ghost. i really do.

But:

Matt in that video is ferocious. This is tough but I may lean towards Thumbing My Way. Riot Act is full of songs like this; most songs on the record wouldn't scratch my top 5 or anything, but it's such an engrossing listen straight through. It manages to feel cohesive and expansive at the same time.

I'll say Thumbing, but these songs in all honesty are at equal caliber.

edit: on second thought, Save You. The vocal and Matt put it over for me.

That bass drum work Matt throws in at around 3:06 is fucking wild. I'm not sure I've heard the song sound as good as it does there.

Part of it is timing. Part of it is atmosphere. Part of it is memory. Part of it is sentimentality. None of it makes sense but I'm totally going with Thumbing My Way.

I fully expect one of the others to win. And I won't lose any sleep over it or anything. But what I hold in my heart for Thumbing My Way is singular and ineffable. I get why others dislike and/or are bored by it. I do. But it gets my vote.
