Voting ends 3/19
Two songs will be eliminated. It will be difficult. Be brave.

Mind Your Manners. But it's close between that and Sirens. Both are great. Either one could win and I'd be okay with it. Getaway is a big wet fart noise.

I don't know with these. They are all pretty evenly decent, but not close to great. Sirens gets the vote for now.

Getaway has that great RVM style outro that I wish was more prevalent in the song. Great work from Jeff on this, and a fun bounce to the song, but it's overwritten
Sirens is a solid song - an interesting genre exercise that is surprising in all sorts of subtle ways. It was a blast watching so many posters (myself included) resist and then gradually fall for its charms.
Mind Your Manners is just aces. It's a top 20 song, and may well be top 10. The only thing I don't like is the generic punk riff. The opening guitar part is ominious, Eddie sounds excellent throughout (this is the register he should be singing his fast songs in), it has that excellent layered outro, a fun solo from mike, and that wonderful chorus. Also has excellent lyrics, and will forever be the one song that Kevin Davis got absolutely and completely wrong.

MYM simply bc of the opening guitar riff, and Ed's deep, guttural opening vocals that is a nice change of pace from how he typically tries and sings fast songs

Overtime, Getaway has become a cool bassline in search of a better song for me. It was my favorite at the start but it hasn't stayed there. Sirens isn't terrible, but it just sounds tired. By the end, the song almost sounds bored with itself. Mind Your Manners suffers from the shitty chorus syndrome, but the rest of it is good. I love the intro, it has Mike's best solo (short as it is) since All or None, and it retains that demented call-and-response that was my favorite part in Ole.
I'm grading pretty much everything in these matchups on a curve, because even the winners have some problems, but Mind Your Manners has stayed fun since it was released.

Getaway was the highlight of LB when it first came out, but now I don't ever want to listen it.
Mind Your Manners is corny, minus Mike's solo which is super fun.
Sirens is corny, but it's sincere and it succeeds in its goals -- it makes me feel things when I'm in the right mood, so it gets my vote.

Im changing my vote to Sirens.
Im emotional today for a specific reason.
However, ill always remember a single moment when i knew i loved this song. I was dating a girl who i knew i was probably falling in love with. I was set to head to denver to meet another girl that i went out with once ( i was in the scene at the time) to go to a concert with. That same day this girl i was falling in love got the news that she had cancer. I was driving to denver to go to this show and sirens came on. I fucking bawled. I didnt go to denver. I turned around and we committed to each other.
Man, im spilling it on RM Tonight.
Eds vocals on this sound amazing and the "video" version of this song is the tops.

Let it out, strat. This isn't the same girl you're seeing now, right?

but the line "with death over our shoulder...." is a juicy one for me.

Yea, the lyrics are great. What stip said is true: Seems like a lot of fans tried to resist that song, and just couldn't do it. It's not like I ever put it these days, 'coz who wants to listen to Lightning Bolt? But it's a great song, and one of the few "Eddie's a Dad Now!" songs that hits its mark.

Nothing grates on me so much as when Eddie gets all pseudo-ebonics, eg. "Johnny he be havin' lots of women", or pseudo-down-home-folksy, as he does in Sirens when he sings the line about "this here town". It's awful, nails-on-a-chalkboard stuff.
There's no satisfying choice here, but I suppose I'll go with Mind Your Manners.
