Toughest call this round for me, but I'm gonna give the nod to Got Some. It's the song I'm more likely to seek out these days, which is a reversal from the early days of Backspacer.

Got Some is so much better than Johnny Guitar :shake: In fact, I may go as far to say it's the best song between BS and LB.

Got Some needs room to stretch it's legs. It's been edited and honed to have not enough life. Ed and Matt both cram as much as they can into the song.

Johnny Guitar has life, rhythm, feels, groove and demands repeat listens. Not a fav at first, now it's the best track on the album.

If Johnny Guitar has been released on Yield, we'd all be singing its praises every day on RM.

It's got the Yield musical tone for sure.

These are my two favorite songs from the last 2 albums, I ike them both quite a bit.

Johnny Guitar gets my vote, but I like them about the same, Matt's work on Got Some is pretty great.

Never understood the hate for Got Some. I loved it when they debuted it on the Late Show. Rocking intro, great drumming throughout, maybe not the most creative number, but the whole outro soars.

It's not Got Some staring at me. It's Johnny Guitar Watson.

Gave them both a proper full listen and Got Some gets my vote.

Glad to see Got Some getting some love. As much as I crap on modern day PJ, I really do enjoy the song. Like I said in an earlier post, I may even go as fas as to say it's the best song on the last two albums.

I really like all of the "Backspacer" songs in this round. But "Johnny Guitar" is one of the few songs that really embodies that "fun" side of "Backspacer" that is often rumored but so seldom found -- the subject matter is just ludicrous and random enough to offset any of the earnestness that is automatically projected onto all Pearl Jam music, and the rhythm feels off-center and slightly askew without breaking its steady, easy groove. "Got Some" is a good barnstormer with a fantastic ending, but it just doesn't have the same singular charm as "JG."

Yeah this was a good moment even if the mix was awful - but it wasn't Late Show it was Conan's first night on his ill-fated Tonight Show. Can't find video of it anywhere.

Correct. And the sound during that performance was garbage.
