I Am Mine b/c it stands out as being the best part of its song while BoJ is merely a terrific section of an altogether terrific track.

I hate I Am Mine, but the solo to Brain of J itself really isnt anything special. I like the vibe of everything else going on, but I keep expecting the solo to be better. I like Brain of J but the solo is pretty much just kind of noise, whereas I Am Mine has a good solo even though the rest is awful.

While I really love both of these songs, the solo in Brain of J almost feels like filler. It is good, but Mike's done it better, and it isn't something the song particularly builds too, nor does it really help define it. I Am Mine is both one of the most cathartic solos he has written, and the song climaxes around that moment. It is essential to the song in a way that the BoJ song isn't.

This is exactly what I said, but much better.

After listening to both I find myself a little surprised to be picking I Am Mine.

BOJ rips but it's pretty much a stock standard lead break, IAM is a bit more thoughtful and taps into a bit more feeling. I Am Mine.

I'm stuck on I Am Mine. And I'm still surprised by that.
