Kevin Smith wrote:THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It's been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion...
CLERKS III will be the best film I'll ever make.
Well I, for one, am looking forward to this. I thought Clerks II was great and just what it needed to be.

Clerks II was great....I just don't know where they can go with a III after the way they ended II. From what I remember it took some real convincing to get the guy who played Randal on board....
And seriously, Rosario Dawson....

"Clerks II" had some really great moments, like the jail scene near the end. "Red State" was an interesting flick that showed some growth. I'm curious as to what he does with these characters 20 years later.

why 20? He already revisited these characters in Clerks 2...there is no need to make a third one.
Red State was interesting yeah, specially because it was something far away his confort zone, but still i dont see him doing anything good with a third movie of Clerks.

Why not? Clearly those characters are part of him, and he feels like he has something to say about them.
Anyway, he's been planning on making Clerks III ever since he wrote Clerks II. He's said something like "Clerks was about being in my 20s, Clerks II is about being in my 30s and Clerks III will be about being in my 40s".
I don't think many people are expecting this to be great (I'm certainly not), but I'm just curious to see how he wraps it all up. Can't be any worse than "Cop-Out".

Jersey Girl is worse than Cop out...so yeah this one can be bad too.

I loved Clerks II. As Jorge pointed out, that jail scene was a great moment that the entire movie led up to. I think it says a lot about making the most of your close friendships and understanding that no matter your lot I life, you should love what you do. I still remember getting goosebumps when the first few chords of "misery" by soul asylum played, starting the fade to black and white.
