I downloaded this morning. Only heard the first 2 tracks. No opinion yet.
Why does HOV catch such bad flac from hip hop heads? I love his stuff.

Jay dissing Ye while copping his aesthetic. What a hack. The only reason anyone even still pays attention to him is because his wife is a megastar and Ye saved his career.

See I think his wife is overrated big time
And I guess ye saved Jay but then again Jay basically put him in the spotlight in the first place
Reasonable doubt is a classic.. he has a few other really good albums (blueprint 1, Vol 1, black, Vol 3) and a ton of good singles scattered through the others.. now if I get an album with a good song or 2 from him that's an added plus I guess
Jay has been a dick to Kanye for a long time. He doesn't deserve credit for discovering him.
No arguments about Reasonable Doubt, though. That's a classic album.

Isn't a basic part of rap culture being a dick, though? Everyone is a dick to everyone else. Kanye has been a bigger dick to other artists than just about anybody. I'm not sure why that aspect of Jay-Z turns you off. Unless, you're just being loyal to Kanye. If it's just you have a friend and some dude is shitting on your friend and so you chose to defend your friend because that's just what good friends do. If that's what's happening, then I totally get it.
Jay-Z has had a handful of songs in the past that I've enjoyed well enough. I really liked that Unplugged album he did. Other than that, I could take or leave him. I have no interest in this new record. Unless you guys tell me it's fucking amazing. I might check it out in that case. Maybe.

I'm so sorry. That was really inappropriate. Please, forgive me.

Honestly though, not every rapper is a dick, and I think whenever Kanye has been "a dick," he's been coming from a place of good intentions. He was speaking up for what he thought was right, even if it was rude or improper. That's a big difference from the mean-spirited dick moves Jay or Taylor Swift have pulled.

Fair enough. I really don't pay attention to most of it. Just seems like this kind of thing is always happening. It's mostly PR, right? Like the WWE?

I've never met the man. I was talking more about the Taylor Swift/Kanye stunt.
