Spam Musubi. Spam and pineapple fried rice. Grilled Spam sliders. I could go on...

This is a great thing to keep in the kitchen. Synthetic and salty, just like a comfort food should be. It's easy to cook and super cheap. I know more than a few of you out there agree with me. Share your recipes and photos here.

Really, guys? I figured it would be one of those rare common bond experiences across RM.

Anyway, you're not missing too much, but it's a lot of fun to cook with on the fly. It's softer than meat but gets nice and crispy on the outside when you grill it. Very salty and absorbent, which makes it ideal to complement or contrast with other more healthy things. The thing I do most often is cube it up and pan grill it, adding pineapple and leftover rice at the end with a little bit of soy sauce. Sometimes I'll leave the pineapple off and cook a couple of eggs to go on top of Spam and rice.

Someone had a can of spam at work the other day and we got mcdonalds breakfast and two of my coworkers made spam sandwiches using mcdonalds hash browns as the bread.

Also, never made this myself, but Spam Musubi is all the rage around town lately. No trip to a raman shop is complete without sharing a couple of these around the table before ordering your noodles...

We were certainly poor growing up. As an adult, I had not had it in years until I went to Hawaii. Then, when I got back to the continental U.S., I was surprised to learn that Spam wasn't as cheap as I thought it would be compared to "real" meat.
