Except it's completely incongruous to everything else going on in the movie. And the lens choice makes no sense (the hand with the knife looks super far away from the camera, which is supposed to be a person's POV). And they didn't bother to solve the height problem (it's supposed to be a child's POV, but it's very obviously being shot by someone of adult height). Nothing about it makes any sense at all. It's just a flashy gimmick.

I hate Halloween so much.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

The intro is shocking.

I love the remake too.

There are plenty of good ones.
Major League
Major League 2
Field of Dreams
The Sandlot
Bull Durham
Mr. Baseball (I've come around on this one)
A League of Their Own
Bad News Bears (original)
Rookie of the Year
Angels in the Outfield

However, then there's the absolute garbage like:
The Benchwarmers
Trouble with the Curve
Bad News Bears: Breaking Training (that shitty one where they went to play in the Astrodome)
Cobb
that awful Babe Ruth movie with John Goodman
Summer Catch
Brewster's Millions
Little Big League

I'm gonna go ahead and add The Rookie to the good baseball movie list. Caught that on MLB Network last night.
And let's add Mr 3000 to the shitty list.

Man, what I wouldn't give for just one more movie from John Milius.

Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and rise of the sons of Arius, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan - destined to bear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure...

Jesus fucking Christ, what a way to open a movie. :worthy:

"There comes a time, thief, when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a father's love for his child."

-Conan: I remember days like this when my father took me to the forest and we ate wild blueberries. More than 20 years ago. I was just a boy of four or five. The leaves were so dark and green then. The grass smelled sweet with the spring wind.
[pause]
-Conan: Almost 20 years of pitiless cumber! No rest, no sleep like other men. And yet the spring wind blows, Subotai. Have you ever felt such a wind?
-Subotai: They blow where I live too. In the north of every man's heart.
-Conan: It's never too late, Subotai.
-Subotai: No. It would only lead me back here another day. In even worse company.
-Conan: For us, there is no spring. Just the wind that smells fresh before the storm.

Fffffffffuck. Poetry.

Like seriously. Little Big League is a million times better than Rookie of the Year or Angels in the Outfield. The Naked Gun is also a good baseball movie.

Not counting rewatches, I have watched 44 movies since I saw The Force Awakens, and every single one has been better than it. I wonder how long it will be before I come across one as bad or worse. Anyone wanna take bets?

Sam Fragoso: Do you enjoy festivals like this?

Werner Herzog: No, there’re too many of them, and too few good films. We have 4,000–5,000 festivals a year, but we only have three of four good films a year.

SF: What are the good films from last year?

WH: Act of Killing [a documentary Herzog executive-produced] and some of my stuff.
