I was expecting something a bit different, but that track is killer.

Cross-posting this from the Silver Mt. Zion thread:

Um...I'm not quite sure what to make of that. SMZ have recreated their song "Hang Onto Each Other" as a pair of handmade techno tunes and enlisted Ariel Engle to help out on vocals. This should be interesting.

I see that I forgot to post about this, although I guess it doesn't really count as an "official" release, since it's sort of a live-in-studio session. It's got all new songs, though, so it seems worthy of mention to me.

I haven't gotten around to listen to the whole thing yet but it sounded promising.

- new Fennesz
On April 28, Christian Fennesz will release his first solo studio effort since 2008's Black Sea. Bécs, which is the Hungarian word for the Austrian capital, Vienna, will be available through Editions Mego. The album will reportedly drop the more drone-oriented work, in favor of the more florid pop mechanisms found on Endless Summer.
- new Anathema
Recently, Anathema's singer/multi-instrumentalist Daniel Cavanagh announced that the band has been working on its 10th studio album, and that it is scheduled for release in May of this year.

Cavanagh stated that he was influenced by Radiohead and Atoms for Peace, and that some tracks will have a slightly more electronic feel.

I was waiting for someone else to praise it so strat wouldn't feel too lonely. Because since that post I listened to the whole thing and it's kinda nice at times but also too springsteen-y other times, and ultimately I don't really care to hear it again.

Yeah I don't really know how else to explain it, and maybe it's a silly comparison especially since I'm not that familiar with springsteen to begin with, but some parts made me go "ugh springsteen".

Speaking of "ugh" I'm surprised RM isn't talking about that chino moreno crosses thing, it seems to contain just the right amount of 90s/electro/altrock to be a hit around here.

this album is like the best parts of Full Moon Fever, Tunnel of Love, and Brothers In Arms, but with a nice spaced out fuzz/drone layer

WoD have been one of my favorite bands for the better part of 5 years now, and it's great to see them finally find their footing and release such a fully realized record.

Eyes To The Wind is easily one of the better written songs i've heard so far this year, and In Reverse isn't far behind.

you're high. the Wallflowers don't have a single song with the layers and depth of that song/this album. the breakdown near the end is like staring into the sun.

if you're listening to it for the first time, keep listening... have had this album the last 2 months and it's only gotten better with time.

also, actually LISTEN to the lyrics on that song (and the title track)
