It's a comedy podcast hosted by Scott Aukerman and Adam Scott. They go album by album and talk about each song. The pods are long and the first half of each is usually just them talking, doing improvised bits, and riffing about nonsense. But it's hilarious and charming and addicting.

This is the second iteration/season of the show. The first, called U Talking U2 2 Me?, was obviously the same show but about U2's catalogue.

Until I really started following the convo about that podcast series, I assumed it was an REM exclusive podcast with Scott Litt and another Scott, like McCaughey or someone similarly close to the REM circle.

That would be a cool podcast, now that I think about it.

I'm about halfway through the Chronic Town ep. I love this already.

I’ve never listened to a podcast of any kind consistently. I barely ever listen to podcasts at all.

The latest episode of this is definitely the closest thing I’ve ever done to the U2/REM podcast

I can't imagine listening to the REM podcast without listening to the U2 one first. So many of the bits and inside jokes originated there. At the very least you have to go back and listen to Staind Glass 1 before SG 2.

The Chronic Town EP is exactly one bus ride from home to my stop before riding in to work.

Just thought I'd update the thread on that little tidbit.

Around the Sun is SUCH a pleasant surprise. I really loved this record. It's melancholy and melodic and moody. It's exactly the shade of REM I like. There's a three song run toward the end falters a bit for me but they stick the landing with the title track. Leaving New York through Boy In A Well is damn near perfect, though (except for perhaps that Q-Tip tag on The Outsiders; I don't hate it, but I totally agree that it's not really necessary).

This is going to be in frequent rotation for a while. I can tell. It's a fantastic winter walking around NYC record.

Its a personal favorite to me but sometimes i think it has a special place for me because its very personal. It belongs to a very good moment of my life and it will forever attached to that place and time.

I agree with every word of this, J. I was expecting a disaster when I first listened to this record and it's really pretty excellent.

I've loved REM since Automatic and still listen to them frequently, however I never listened to Around the Sun or Collapse into Now. I'll have to give them both a try.

What is everyone's feelings on Up? Personally I hated it when it came out and rejected it out right. About 6 months later I gave it another chance and fell hard for it. It feels like genius REM, even today. Hope gets me every time.

Up is a great record.

Up is top tier REM.

I thought I agreed with Michael Stipend that Up was a few songs too long, but then I listened to it the other day and loved every track, so...
