I haven't seen that film, so I can't talk about his performance in it. But can address Mr. White when he says, "His old-fashioned, light-heroism (recalling Joel McCrea, Randolph Scott and such as former Bobby-Soxer idol Guy Madison eventually grew into in B-Westerns) might be why the mainstream media ignored Walker."

No, Mr. White, mainstream media largely ignored Walker because, god bless him though he tried, he wasn't a very good actor nor was he especially interesting on screen. His passing was tremendously said, however. And I think he did care. And I think he did try. Which is a good shot more than a lot of successful stars can say.

Well, that's all subjective. I think it could very easily be argued he simply doesn't fit the mold of what mainstream media considers a "good" actor.

Of course. All of this is subjective.

But I think Paul Walker has all the makings of a mainstream star. That's what's so interesting about him. He never managed to catch fire (the way some think he should have, it's hard to argue that the man had decent enough success) regardless of those qualities. Why is that?

It would be a ton of fun to see the two of them in their prime having a crazy off.

Gibson overacts when he isn't being action hero.

Cruise is too flat when he isn't being action hero.

Other than Eyes Wide Shut and Magnolia, I'd agree.

He's terrible in Eyes Wide Shut. I haven't seen Magnolia since it came out, but his psycho scientologist shtick probably helped him with that role.

He just looked really confused the entire time, especially when he was trying to have human marital relations with his wife.

You ever see Running Scared? fucked up movie. Pretty good though. Then Paul Walker made a bunch of movies about hotwheels.
