The point was never to actually do a "comprehensive and encyclopedic compendium" of anything. It's a comedy show. And it's wonderful.

Leave is so fucking good. That guitar in loop, Stipe´s emotion in the chorus, the groove....Its so fucking good.

Just listened to the accelerate ep and it’s way better. At least they discuss the album.
I agree with the idea of being better than it is. Kinda like around the sun being the worst album were it’s actually a good one.
The first 4 songs are impressive though.

New Adventures in HiFi is my favorite of theirs. Wake Up Bomb is one of the songs that gets to the heart of this album with Bittersweet Me and some others that perfectly balance R.E.M.’s bigger heavier sound while keeping with the hooks of their earlier days. I know people really love their 80s IRS output and I do too, but give me Automatic For the People through Up period where they went through so much change and reacted to their own sound by reaching for the opposite from one album to the next.

Just had New Adventures playing this afternoon, and I've noticed two things
1) There's no real low points on this album - just parts that shoot REAL high
2) Undertow doesn't seem to get the love it deserves around these parts
