good lord. Ok, sure, i understand the "in the moment" bullshit about it but good lord. This is maybe what is wrong with PJ these days. This is absolutely horrible. yet people cheer because "oh hey its a new song and its eddie and heres a cheesy one liner!" and he is so blinded by it he feels he can get away with it.

I remember standing in the middle of the lawn when he started playing it, and watching the people around me build themselves into a frenzy of "THIS IS SO GOOD AND SO SIGNIFICANT AND WE REALLY DID MAKE IT TO WHEN IT ALL GOT GOOD!" and all I could think was "What? This is literally the worst thing I've ever seen at a Pearl Jam concert. This sounds like it was written by an 8 year old. How did Ed think this was good enough to play for people?"

I realized then that the Pearl Jam fanbase had more or less passed me by, and I was ok with that.

Now, what they did between the years of 91-200.....(1/2/3 depending on your own tastes) is other worldly.... They were working on another plane maybe.... But since?

Watching the picks come in for this made me go back and listen to a lot of stuff from the catalog as stand alone songs for the first time in years and it really hammered home just how deep and flat out great their output from 1991-2003 really was. For some reason it made me remember when my copy of the Man of the Hour single came in the mail in like December of 2003. They had just finished another killer tour that year, released Lost Dogs and floored me with how great some of the stuff in the vault was, and still had time to slip out an absolute gem like Man of the Hour. I remember thinking "As great as they've been, there's no reason to think they can't keep this up!" As unfair as it was to expect it to happen, it really did seem like they'd always be on that other plane you mentioned.

REALLY wanted Inside Job... I just couldn't find the right spot as my list got more rounded out and I started planning out a playlist. I may be in the minority, but I think that's my favorite song off of S/T.

I almost took Evacuation over Master/Slave. Oh well.

"Evacuation" is one of those songs I'd have picked for myself really early on, but would have been wary of using it in a tournament for fear of its reputation.

It's always been a song I sort of forget about, until it comes on and I enjoy the shit out of it.

Bee Girl would have easily gone in the first round, if this wasn't the case.
