I think we can do better with Eliza and King George. Otherwise, along with Jorge's Strat casting, this is outstanding.

EDIT: Also, Human Bass is not allowed to participate. Even if he was, there's no goddamn way he's worthy of one of the best parts in the show.
Eliza is a lower-quality repost of Angelica. There, I said it.

While I support the notion that B is a lower-quality repost, I still feel like, given the other casting decisions, that there's a better Eliza on RM.

See, and then you have like a super quality post and I have to doubt my own sanity.

He's fine. But he's out of his depth, for sure, in that cast. He's not the best actor on stage either. But his singing/acting ability has so little to do with what makes or breaks Hamilton that it feels silly to dwell on those things.

The genius of the show is still his, the words, the songs, the craft. I don't fault him for wanting to play the titular role. And there are few that could deliver the lines (non-singing) with the same dedication, passion, authenticity, and flow that LMM has. Totally worth the trade off.

for sure. i've seen the show 4 times now: once live in new york with that cast, once on disney plus (with that cast), and twice in Chicago with a different cast. compared to the guy that played hamilton in chicago, Lin-Manual Miranda sounds like he's singing in a 5th-grade ensemble.

I get in arguments all the time with my Broadway friends about Lin because they don't understand that when I compliment Lin's voice, I'm not talking about his singing. I'm talking about his artistic voice and the literal timbre/tone/delivery of his actual speaking/rapping voice. His actual tone and cadence is so appealing and captivating to me. I'm so glad I got to see him perform the part, even though I believe there are better singers/actors out there who could have crushed it in that sense.

But my professional singer/actor friends just dismiss him (and me) out of hand. I get it. But that's just so not the point as far as I'm concerned. Not with this piece. Obviously, for me, it's all about the genius of the writing.
