Wyrd sisters was the first one I ever read and the witches are still favourites. Closely tied with the guards and death. I'm not sure I could pick a favourite book, but the Hogfather gets dragged out every time I'm feeling a bit low and need some comfort. Oh and the Tiffany books are great too.

Have you guys watched any of the tv adaptations?
I know they've done hogfather and I think, going postal.

Pretty great production values. Lot gets left out but david James is excellent.

I liked going postal. I don't think I would have liked it if I wasn't already a fan, but it was fun to watch.

Me too. The Death books are also top tier.
I recently downloaded a radio adaptation of Mort and listened to it with hubby on a road trip. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.

why is goodreads sending me info on Terry Pratchett books? the first time i bought one of his books was the other week when I got the one stip mentioned here - I've never made any reference to him on goodreads (actually, I haven't done anything on goodreads for like 5 years)

Well, he's always one of the top authors on there and he has a new book out in a week or two. Probably just coincidence?

the email was one of those - people who've purchased Terry Pratchett books will be happy to know...

I guess they have some kind of business partnership with amazon? but I order a ton of books via amazon and this is the first time goodreads has emailed me like that.

I've got 5 books of his I've been saving for when it is all over

I might need some kind of grief counselling. I'm not even kidding.

I reread most of the series last year. I was going to write an article on his political philosophy. Then the baby came two weeks early.

Maybe next summer.

Honestly, the Alzheimers makes it easier. Snuff and Unseen Academicals (snuff especially) seemed like a huge step down from previous books. It's sort of easier to take knowing the quality is diminishing.

Give me some encouragement. Please.

I gave up on good omens.

I'm reading the Warded man, by someone's recommendation. And it's clunky but addictive.

I want to finish good omens. It was just getting good but getting a bit much too.

End of the world is just happening.

And although I know what you mean, I have different feels. I think I've already gone through a grieving process. I already cried over those books because I knew they weren't what they could have or should have been. I don't think that's going to come close to the reality of him not being there though. I was 13 when I read my first Discworld novel. It was my first obsession and my first fandom. It's part of my life. It sounds awfully cliched and melodramatic, but I don't know what I'll do with out it.
