The thread explained that they added a few reshoots to give it a tie in. So think of all the tie-in scenarios that fit both the story we have so far and that low bar of effort, and you will have roughly 3 possible answers. Two of which are probably not different enough to matter.

Saw this yesterday

but...
Spoiler: show
the stuff inside the bunker was great, the anti-climactic last 10-15 minutes after she gets out that tie it to Cloverfield was a letdown

I have no interest in seeing this, so I read the plot recap. Now I just want to see the ending.

Yeah. A really solid movie with 15 minutes of stupid tagged on the end.

The ending wasn't great, but I really liked most of it. John Goodman and M.E.W are both national treasures.

i liked this movie a lot. it really is worth seeing for john goodman's performance alone. i'll spoiler the rest of my thoughts on this just in case:
Spoiler: show
it's kind of a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation, but in some ways i wish it wouldn't have been made known it was a cloverfield tie-in so that those last 15 minutes would have been a true surprise. you spend all movie wondering what was actually going on outside the bunker. with it known that there was a cloverfield bent to this, i knew that there was a very, very good likelihood that what happened wasn't terrorism, nuclear fallout, or even nothing at all, but most likely an alien/monster attack. so even though there was still suspense, i feel it could have been heightened even more if it were left a standalone film and then have us be presented with that ending. on the other hand, i probably wouldn't have made a point to see it without the cloverfield tie-in, so.... *shrug*.

i did enjoy the end. it's fine if people didn't like it, and i could pick nits if i wanted to, but to me it was a fun capper to a really fun thriller.

i get that. Yeah, the ending would have been amazing if the movie wasnt called Cloverfield...but a lot of people in the theatre was still surprised about it...I didnt thought they were going to show so much, and i really liked that.

This was great . I loved every part of it .

John goodman deserves some recognition.

The ending was better than I was expecting, although I'm not sure if it will be well served by a sequel or not
