Jack Antonoff spearheaded this year’s Bonnaroo Superjam, and he chose to dedicate the set to hit songs from his birth year of 1984. Britt Daniel sang Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m Goin’ Down” and Echo & The Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon.”

These guys are probably the best hope that someday Pearl Jam could put something out late-career that truly made people consider the new content against their past catalog. This album with The Hardest Cut and Wild has a vibe and an edge that is really cool for them, and I hope they stay in this kind of lane. Spoon has been around a long time, and they are darlings here in Austin but have only scratched at the edges of widescale popularity which is I guess a much easier way to survive as a band--to keep reaching for your pinnacle vs. pretty much achieving in on your first album or two.

Oh no no no. They Want My Soul is among their best. First 5 tracks are unstoppable, among their best songs.

Spoon will release their new Ep Memory Dust on June 13th via Matador Records. The album features three new Spoon recordings – the original songs “Sugar Babies” and “Silver Girl,” plus a cover of Bo Diddley’s “She’s Fine, She’s Mine.”
