I had no idea the Academy nominations came out this morning. I knew they had to be close but I typically keep up with that a little better. This awards season has underwhelmed me.

Me too. A mediocre year (and I liked this year in movies WAY more than most) and a largely uninspired and unsurprising list of nominations everywhere. I'll still watch the ceremony but I'm probably less enthusiastic than in years prior.

As always, I will enjoy the pageantry and roll my eyes at the rampant stupidity.

I think it must be because I studied it for so long and really thought I would end up in that world eventually... but I just love these dumbass award shows. I love the hell out of them. Even when they're cheesy and stupid I find myself moved. I usually get teary at least a few times during.

Yesterday appears to have been a rough day for everyone.

Might i suggest that both things may be true? That there might have been a bone tossed towards black panther as well as it changing and inspiring millions of lives and it be worthy of consideration?
