The singing is secondary, to me. Again, it's just not the point of the piece.

I, personally, didn't enjoy this, but I can certainly recognize the symbolism, style, lyricism, and artistry that makes this show groundbreaking.

This is a good perspective.
As a stage show I don't find it particularly noteworthy, but the music really is incredible.

so if the guy is nasally and pitchy he's immune from criticism for his singing because he wrote good songs? i don't get this at all. no one's criticizing the creative genius. the execution is what's at issue (this is, after all, a musical).

No one is saying you can't criticize his singing. You can! Look at how well you continue to do it. And as I said, you're not alone. Most everyone I know who works on Broadway has voiced very similar criticisms (at least privately).
I think it's also worth noting that Lin didn't write the best songs (in terms of singing, not rapping) for Hamilton.

He did write them all. I meant he didn't write the best songs for his character (Hamilton) to sing. Because he's aware he cannot song them.

I think it's pretty shitty to accuse others if liking something -- in fact, of being incapable of liking something -- just because you didn't like it.
I think Hamilton is the greatest piece of U.S. art created in the last 25 years. Am I a liar?
