I worked with a guy from Mexico City and that's how he said they had them, always with chorizo on top. I tried it and it was pretty slammin. Could have just been his personal preference though. He always talked about Chilangos, i.e. Mexico City natives though so I think it is a regional thing.

Sounds like a fork and knife situation. I'm into it. I was hoping you were going to name a specific taco truck or patio that serves them that way in ATX.

I think I had it at Mi Tradicion, which is an excellent panaderia in the north/central area.
