He was one of the best things about that movie, so cheesy and well done.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I don't think he has the star power to be that choosy, but he seems to elevate anything he's in.

I never saw it. It's a Sondheim musical, after all.

But I do love that cast.

Oh Pine is just wonderful. A true star. His performance in Hell or High Water was one of the ages.

And Wet Hot American Summer? Incredible.

Most shit classified as "sci-fi" these days in Hollywood isn't really even. It's just big budget war and explosions in space. True sci fi delves into the human condition in an off-Earth or futuristic environment. Good sci fi, anyway, is cerebral.

Haven't seen it. I was thinking of Hell or High Water and Z For Zacchariah. He's probably the best thing about Wonder Woman, too.

Real sci fi bombs horribly. My favorite two movies lately were Blade Runner and Annihilation, and nobody else seemed to like them.

Yeah my favorite type of sci fi is that. Those were good, Burt. Along with Arrival. I'm hopeful for Ad Astra, but let's see.

I try not to get too locked in to these kinds of definitions. Like most things, this stuff means different things to different people. It's like saying Star Wars is ________ . I tend to agree that my favorite sci-fi treads more toward what you're laying out but I'm not going to say the other things that don't isn't sci-fi.

That's what people forget about sci-fi, it's all about humanity.

Blade Runner 2049 is a revelation and a masterpiece. Annihilation was interesting but super flawed.

Blade Runner 2049?

Watching that one on Imax was like going into the Louvre. Pure art.
