Most shit classified as "sci-fi" these days in Hollywood isn't really even. It's just big budget war and explosions in space. True sci fi delves into the human condition in an off-Earth or futuristic environment. Good sci fi, anyway, is cerebral.

Real sci fi bombs horribly. My favorite two movies lately were Blade Runner and Annihilation, and nobody else seemed to like them.E.H. I try not to get too locked in to these kinds of definitions. Like most things, this stuff means different things to different people. It's like saying Star Wars is ________ . I tend to agree that my favorite sci-fi treads more toward what you're laying out but I'm not going to say the other things that don't isn't sci-fi.E.H.
