Finally saw this. CG orcs aside, I prefer the more fantastic look and setting, the effects are fine. No offense to New Zealand, but I think I've seen enough.

I can't stand the silly roller coastery bullshit. Totally out of place with the tone they are going for. Legolas still sucks. Just send him to kill the Dragon. Shouldn't be much trouble for an invincible god like him.

Otherwise I like these movies a lot more than I expect to.

the extended editions usually work better for his pacing and storytelling style. I'm excited.

I won't be watching the extended edition, but I will be watching the inevitable awesome making of documentary.

The first was about as brutal as it can be really. I think Peter Jacksons approach to the making of the Hobit films is akin to the posting style of chud
