possible reasons I don't watch nearly as much as I used to:
- more formulaic trash
- more content in general/more easily accessible, reducing the importance of movies, no novelty
- more important things to do in real life
- vidya games
- politics
- I'm too old
- i enjoy watching shitty old B-movies
- not enough boobs

it’s hard to imagine the ratio of goods to formulaic trash is any different now than at any point in film history

No it's no that either. I've been reading a lot for work but a few months ago my decompressing time at the end of the day would be spent with a movie. We've been watching more TV. Just kinda feels like a phase, I guess.
