I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
I gotta be honest, I was mixing her up a bit with Annette Bening, but I still stand by this. The Argonaut wrote:I'm going to read this as sarcasm, I refuse to believe anything elseFarmer John wrote:It was probably due to her being super hot and delightful and not at all annoying. The Argonaut wrote: How did she catch on as a movie star?

Yeah I found those scenes bizarre also. I’m not disliking the film though. Did you finish it?The Argonaut wrote:It's also such an oddly written part!
She's at dinner and someone asks her what she writes about and she says "Everything." "Everything?" "Yeah, everything. Nothing." And then is embarrassed when no one engages with her.
Even worse, when the publisher asks her to describe her work she says "I couldn't possible describe it." Like, what the hell? So Warren Beatty jumps in and describes something she recently wrote. The publisher offers to take a meeting with her based on that, she accepts, and then when the guy leaves she yells at Warren Beatty that she's perfectly capable of talking about her own work. But she just said that she couldn't describe it. She does not make sense to me.
I finished it. I liked it for a while, too. It does have a fair bit going for it at points. There's an enjoyable and insightful and worthwhile ninety minute movie in there. But it loses a lot of goodwill and honestly (obviously) kind of pisses me off by being 3.5 hourslennytheweedwhacker wrote:Yeah I found those scenes bizarre also. I’m not disliking the film though. That occurred to me, but what you're getting here is pure, unedited argo. This is my true soul. I'm not taking time to make sure my posts make logical sense or convey the idea I want them to convey, I'm certainly not making edits to try to....you get ittragabigzanda wrote:But this is a message boardThe Argonaut wrote:I am not in a movie.
