Maybe Under the Silver Lake? It flopped pretty hard upon release but it's developed a pretty dedicated following. Not sure if it counts as "cult" yet though, maybe it'll develop into that

Sorry to Bother You is a movie that might fit here. An odd film, as cult movies ought to be in some way, that keeps finding new audiences and seems to keep growing

The discussion in the True Detective thread got me thinking. Not saying True Detective is an answer here (maybe it is?), the question just popped in my head when reading the thread.
What tv series, or stand-alone season, do you think could work well — or work better — if distilled down to a ~2.5 hour movie?

Mindhunter S2 should have been a longish movie about the Atlanta stuff, with everything else jettisoned.

i don't get this. why can't you enjoy a movie from the comfort of your own augmented reality machine?
