It all looked pretty good, hope all who were there were able to enjoy it even with the long delay. I fell asleep during the delay and just woke up a bit ago :P

Couple of thoughts from last night:
-I was fortunate to get tix, first baseball stadium show though sight lines are terrible
-The first set was pretty great
-The rest of the set never seemed to get on track, wierd song choices at wierd times
-MYM awesome, LB has some possibilities, Future Days not so much.
-Really sad about the skipped songs
-Long day, PJ played their hearts out and stuck it out.

Now that I managed to get a few hours of sleep, here's my take:

Good:
Hold On - I knew it was on the setlist that was circulated two days ago, but it was still a great treat. This was on my "never gonna hear it" list.
Low Light - Love Yield, love this song
Come Back dedication - It was great for Eddie to dedicate this one to the 10c who lost wife. Sets a dangerous precedence for the people who post there, but still very cool
MYM - Sounded better than London, crowd liked it
Bugs - ticked that one in StatTracker, now it can go away from the live show
Future Days - seemed a bit rough performance-wise, but I like the idea of Eddie writing love songs and the keyboards weren't nearly as bad as some made them out to be. Looking forward to hearing this one on LB
Chloe Dancer - First time hearing this, thought Eddie nailed it.

Bad:
Eddie's vocals on All Night and DTE - maybe there was a problem with the equipment after the delay, but he sounded bad on these two
Lightning Bolt - The crowd didn't respond well to this one, nor did I
Eruption - blah. A waste of time in a shortened set
Ed talking over the outtro of Black - WTH?
Why Go - felt like the weakest version I have heard in years
Cut songs - they cut songs the hardcores would have wanted to hear in favor of wishlist/UK/even flow #875

Ugly:
Rain delay - almost 3 hours, killed the crowd energy since it did not rain for the last 45 minutes of the delay.
Complete lack of communication for those in the stadium - Once word got out that Pitchfork ended early and Phish had given up, people were getting antsy. Would it killed them to just say something over the PA every 45-60 minutes? Shit, we got 30 emails about Wrigley merchandise, why not a few about the show itself?
Where was Alive? - :shake:
Crowd - just dead by the first encore break. Not that it was really good to begin with, but the band really tried. You could see it in Eddie's face, he wanted to make something great and was disappointed by the break just as much as everyone else, but they just wouldn't give the energy back to him. The crowd was just the picture of the bored, overexposed PJ fan base. They were there so that they could brag about on social media and to other PJ fans. And hopefully get a new badge in stattracker. Even the GA section looked bored. Hopefully the injection of newer fans into GA pits in the fall helps fix this.

This post might soundly overly negative, it's not meant that way. I am glad I was there and there were some great moments, but thanks to the clusterfuck rain delay, this one did not turn out "Epic". And to everyone who was at London but not Wrigley, you guys got the better end of the deal.

I agree, London seems to have gotten the better show.
The rain delay killed alot of the energy in the building. The whole situation was pretty tough. Still hot as fuck, jammed in places with sweaty people for 2-3 hours.
I lost some of my excitement, I admit.
If the show went on as planned with the posted setlist it could have been amazing.
No one can deny the efforts of the band to make this memorable, they tried their best.

Sorry to hear about those that suffered the rain delay. That obviously ruined what could've been an incredible concert.

I'm not sure I would've stuck it out for that long - but, I guess you really weren't given any indication when they'd come back, so you just keep waiting. But, to be trapped with the sweaty, filthy fans under the bleachers would be about as close to a personal hell for me as I could imagine.

Pearl Jam did tweet a few times about waiting out cells of the storms, and promised to put on a full show.

I know not everyone is on twitter but in the day and age of smart phones and social media..I think people should have had an idea they'd come back out.

Yeah, I saw that when we got out of Wrigley, but there was no signal with 20,000+ on their phones all at once. I was trying to tweet you guys pics and videos while it was going last night and nothing was getting through.

Yeah, live next to a ballpark in a neighborhood full of bars and expect peace and quiet. It would serve the neighborhood (and their property values) right if the Cubs built a new ball park somewhere else. I'm a huge Cubs fan, family is all from Chicago, and all Wrigleyville does is bitch and moan.
If you had to put up with that baseball team you would too. Oh wait...

My friend, who is barely even a casual fan and only knows the hits, had nothing good to say about this show.

How much of that was down to the delay?

Probably a good chunk. Here is her comment to me:

"2 hour delay w/no communication from wrigley. We felt stranded. Then the band came on stage and played for two hours, but I only knew 1 song and none of the rest ere any good. I'm sorry, I tried, but they are just really boring and Ed Vedder doesn't sound good at all. He sounds like he's dying. The music was boring, the two hour delay, the fans are assholes,, just a miserable concert experience."

She just added:

"dont get me started on the pink floyd cover.. my little brothers band played a better version at his school's talent show"

I will say that she's kind of a miserable person.

There were some very good moments last night.
Ed was gassed at times, had some moments/songs that he didn't sound the best. Lots moments he sounded great especially during the first set. I thought he killed MYM.

Being a fan for the their entire stretch, they will never be PJ of 98/00 (who could be) but they are still as good as any band out there and Ed can stil sing with the best of them even if he doesn't sound like the 98/00 era anymore

Why was she there? Did she get free tickets or something? She seems like a curmudgeon of the highest order.

9pm to 11:45pm rain delay stuck in a crowded stadium with PJs fans and cut-off beer sales is enough to drive anyone insane.

Well to be fair, there is a 11pm curfew. The sound of random drunks @2am isn't anywhere near as loud as the crowd or the PA @ Wrigley, much less a rock concert. There's a big difference between loud Firday nite @ 10pm and at 2am.

That said it doesn't bother me at all ;)
