Jessa and Adam destroyed everything in their house then had sex.
Marnie had sex with her ex-boyfriend/current heroin addict.
I can't remember what the others did. I think Shosh and Ray had a heart-to-heart at Cafe Grumpy? And then Hanna was most likely annoying.
Marnie and Ray are together...he is with her in the tour.
Shosh is helping Ray with his coffee shop...Hanna is over Jessa and Adam. Hanna´s dad goes to see his possible boyfriend.
Do these people know anyone outside of their group?

Yeah, it was way too self-indulgent.

My wife likes this show, but before watching the new season premiere, she said, "How great would it be the show ended by all of them dying in a subway accident"

I've never been a huge fan of the show, but I've watched the entire series with the wife. And I get where trag is going here. It's felt completely disconnected from the rest of the series. Even in some ways that it was shot with camera angles. Suddenly, personalities that had been established for 4-5 years have suddenly shifted to something else, or like trag said, have become overly exaggerated. It was a really bizarre episode, and I was happy when it was over.

The beach makeout/sex? scene seemed like a parody and not in a good way.

Was Ray being super sarcastic with all the sweet talk and pet names? Or is he suddenly just a giant wuss now?

I had to look it up to make sure you were joking, because with this show I honestly couldn't tell
