I just got home from my Chicago vacation. LOVED it. Went to the concert, art museum, SkyDeck, Braves v. White Sox. Enjoyed everything.

The merchandise situation was absolutely crazy. I got there at about 1:15 on Thursday and the line was about ¾ of a block long. I looked at my weather app and it said it was 93 at that moment. That’s too hot for me to wait. I showed up at 9:30 on Friday morning and the line was even longer. It was again too hot for me to wait. Kudos to anyone who was successful on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and wear your sunburn proudly. I once waited 4 hours for a poster, but those fans were ultra hardcore.

I got to Wrigley at about 5:00 on Friday and got in line to go in. Almost everyone in front of me went to the pit rather than merchandise. Nice. On my way to the home-plate merch tent, I noticed there was no security near the dugout. I sat down and got my pic taken sitting in the 3rd base dugout. I then secured 3 of the 4 posters (no Emok) and I didn’t have to wait in the extreme heat for hours. I then walked to the left-field foul pole beer area to get my girlfriend a beer. I noticed 99% of the ivy was barricaded off. I walked over to the 6 foot section that was open and was about to get my pic taken when I noticed something – A BALL IN THE IVY! I couldn’t believe it! I got a pic “catching” a ball in front of the ivy. I touched the ivy! That 1% was blocked off within 2 minutes. It pays to be early.

The first 7 was gentle but very good.

Then the rains came. I stayed in my Field Z seats until they chased us away. We then stood on the foul territory warning-track for the next 90 minutes. Then we got chased to the lower level. I was in the rain the whole time. It made a forever memory.

The rest of the concert was very good too, but my memories of PJ at Wrigley Field probably won’t involve any particular song.

What did you think of "Chloe Dancer"? I thought it was the best version yet.

Is there a soundboard recording captured from the webcam feed? Does that exist? I'm not being impatient, but if it's out there, that's the one that would get pulled first.

The webcam wasn't soundboard, it was a microphone outside the stadium.

Awesome. I saw Crown of Thorns live 3 times. Chloe Dancer definately spruced it up. The overall performance seemed above average for sure. IMO, the performance was overshadowed by the spectacle.

The entire rest of the show could have been garbage and hearing Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns in the open air some time after one in the morning would have still made it worth attending. I didn't even care when Ed fucked up the lyrics. The outro was the one time in the show where I just completely lost myself in the moment.

i love Chloe Dancer so much...that piano melody is really beautiful.

And realistically, I imagine some would have filed suit to try and hold them liable for things like lodging and transportation costs. They may not have been successful, but it probably would have required some defense costs.

40,000 x $2 = $80,000 to local charities

But I'm sure there's something wrong with this and it's not enough it's never enough given2trade once gave a charity $80,001.

Also, I'll give you guys the benefit of the doubt of not understanding how concerts at Wrigley work, but rescheduling that show would have been a Herculean, near impossible task. There are so many issues at play to get them there in the first place - I really don't believe the city, and more importantly Alderman Tunney (who rules that ward like a king) would have found a way to make it all work again.

That $2 came from fans - not the band. Also, you're absolutely right. They wouldn't have been able to reschedule it. And the millions of dollars in proceeds would have been returned and the band would have lost hundreds of thousands in additional operating costs.

It was also my third CoT, but first Chloe. It took something very good to something great.

Band gave us the best show they could under the circumstances and the fans did the same, simple as that.
