Hi,
I'm related to Chris Cornell and I am extremely upset about everything that has gone down the past 2 weeks. I need somewhere to speak out against Vicky because she's controlling the narrative on all of the media outlets. I want to speak to the fans, not the media. What was really going on is very sinister and my family may not agree with me but it needs to be acknowledged. I don't want my family member who I loved dearly to have a broken legacy because the truth wasn't spoken about. I will not disclose who I am, or any other specifics about our relationship. I just was very close with him. Basically, Vicky and her family have no respect for our family. They behave in a manner that insults us merely because we are seen as lower class citizens to her and always have. Chris was a good man with a heavy heart, and we all know that and love him even though he caused us a lot of pain. The truth is Vicky represented escapism to him, she was his way of escaping a life that asked him to be more honest with himself, something he always had a difficult time doing. When he ran off with her it was like he was becoming someone else in order to forget about what he once was. After he had two kids with this child (that's what we call her) he was locked in, and let it be known we barely have any relationship with those kids. Lily does because she spent time down there with them, but we don't. Anyways, Chris only handled his issues very superficially and never truly healed himself. He was living a lie, attempting to use his music as an excuse for his inability to truly face his issues. I know for a fact Vicky was emotionally abusive. She attacked him in his worst moments and he couldn't handle it. It's really that simple. He wanted it to be real, but it never really was real between them. She only enhanced his insecurities and bad behaviors without him ever realizing it until it was too late. I don't want to disclose much else right now, but this is what I wanted to get off my chest and out into the world of people who cherished him for who he was and not what he was seemingly financially worth.
we may never know what happened, but i'm starting to think that it's not a stretch to think that things weren't hunky-dory with chris and vicky, and she just might have driven him to this, despite all of her public posturing

FWIW, I saw this sort of behavior in the major label world all the time: People with serious issues get rich and get swept up in the money and fame, and become "less real" by the day, and are able to act on their on deluded self-narrative without any real grounding element keeping them in check.
