What is Your Ideal Midlife Crisis?

obviously, a midlife crisis isn't very ideal.
i'm not much of a car person, so i wouldn't shell out money for a sports car.
i think i'd be more inclined to pack up my shit and get out in nature.
lately, I've been obsessing over hiking tiktok, and people sharing their journey through the pacific crest trail and the continental divide trail.
what does your ideal midlife crisis look like? are you living it now?

There is a fox in me . . . a silver-gray fox . . . I sniff and guess . . . I pick things out of the wind and air . . . I nose in the dark night and take sleepers and eat them and hide the feathers . . . I circle and loop and double-cross.
There is a hog in me . . . a snout and a belly . . . a machinery for eating and grunting . . . a machinery for sleeping satisfied in the sun—I got this too from the wilderness and the wilderness will not let it go.
There is a fish in me . . . I know I came from salt-blue water-gates . . . I scurried with shoals of herring . . . I blew waterspouts with porpoises . . . before land was . . . before the water went down . . . before Noah . . . before the first chapter of Genesis.
There is a baboon in me . . . clambering-clawed . . . dog-faced . . . yawping a galoot's hunger . . . hairy under the armpits . . . here are the hawk-eyed hankering men . . . here are the blonde and blue-eyed women . . . here they hide curled asleep waiting . . . ready to snarl and kill . . . ready to sing and give milk . . . waiting—I keep the baboon because the wilderness says so.
There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.
O, I got a zoo, I got a menagerie, inside my ribs, under my bony head, under my red-valve heart—and I got something else: it is a man-child heart, a woman-child heart: it is a father and mother and lover: it came from God-Knows-Where: it is going to God-Knows-Where—For I am the keeper of the zoo: I say yes and no: I sing and kill and work: I am a pal of the world: I came from the wilderness.

I'm pretty sure my whole life has been a midlife crisis. I've always kept in mind that I could die any day. It's why I've never committed to a career path or anything. Felt easier to just settle for a decent paying job and enjoy myself when I can.

This is where I'm at too. I've come to the realization that my escalating running routine is somehow connected to this.

Reading philosophy the last few years has combined my midlife crisis with a terrifying existential crisis, but I think I'm emerging from it transformed, like a beautiful butterfly.

I think the regret Ill have is not playing in bands/doing shows as I get older. Maybe ill get a job at guitar center and wear leather pants.
Otherwise, i dont know. I have some things figured out and living in - what i feel is a paradise - will certainly keep some things at bay.
Also fear of aging in general and dying.

I asked my doctor if the fact that I drive a BMW and have a 30-year-old girlfriend meant that I was having a midlife crisis and he said not necessarily, but I dunno....seems bad.

if your BMW is more than you can actually afford and your girlfriend refers to you as her sugar daddy, it might be a midlife crisis

Have been leasing the 3 Series for the last 10 years and it is not a sugar daddy situation. When this lease is up, I am moving on to like a Nissan or something, as my child support payments are significant to ex-wife.

Still, I am keeping a close eye on myself.
Do not have an urge to get a tattoo or convertible.

Fortunately, her aunt gifted her a decent Volvo station wagon a few years back so she's good for now.

Haha, yeah, I though that, too. But, no, we both genuinely like each other. I'm 46, she's 30. It's not that bad. If she was like early 20s...yeah, that's pushing it.
