I have kind of an avoidant personality and I'm a procrastinator. Do you guys have a way of convincing yourself to do things you don't want to do? Do you psyche yourself up? Force your mind to frame things in a different way to make them more motivating?

So I guess what I'm really asking is, when something absolutely has to get done, and you've procrastinated to the limit, what is that final motivating force that gets you going? Or do you just not do it and accept you'd be happier unemployed and homeless?

A deadline really helps.

Maybe ask yourself if the task in question is actually important to you or if you're being manipulated by societal pressures.

I have a strict deadline but I'm still finding it hard to get started. I definitely don't want to do it, but I don't want to lose my job either. How do I convince myself to want to do it?

What's the task? Is it something you could maybe pay a person in India to do for 37 cents?

If there’s something I don’t want to do, I’d rather have it behind me than in front of me, limiting my psyche and capacity for joy
very logical approach

Sometimes I don't feel like posting, but then I make myself do it.

it's just better to get stuff over with, I guess that's the mindset.

You don't have to want to do it. Accept that and move on.
