Because its great, that's why.bluestate wrote:Light Years is one of those rare songs (along with In Hiding, I Am Mine, Around the Bend, Thin Air, and maybe even Amongst the Waves) that has really grown on me over the years. Whenever I first heard Binaural, I was so turned off by this song. It just left a bad taste in my mouth for some reason. I think I skipped it more often than not. Now I freakin' love it and I have no idea why.
At a certain point in my life, I just wanted all my PJ to be raw and heavy (like Vs, Green Disease, DTE, etc.) and I always had a harder time digesting some of their lighter material (see above), or at least songs that I felt should have had a harder edge (which was probably over half their catalog). But now that's the stuff (maybe ever since Benaroya?) that really jumps out at me and gets me excited about PJ. Strangest Tribe, Parachutes, NAIS, Who You Are, etc. Maybe I'm just getting old?durdencommatyler wrote:Because its great, that's why.bluestate wrote:Light Years is one of those rare songs (along with In Hiding, I Am Mine, Around the Bend, Thin Air, and maybe even Amongst the Waves) that has really grown on me over the years. It's the compositional strength of Light Years vs. the raw playfulness of Leaving Here. I prefer that latter today. Completely stymied as to how anyone could put 10BY ahead of either of these two.bluestate wrote:At a certain point in my life, I just wanted all my PJ to be raw and heavy (like Vs, Green Disease, DTE, etc.) and I always had a harder time digesting some of their lighter material (see above), or at least songs that I felt should have had a harder edge (which was probably over half their catalog).
